What to Bring
Space is limited, and you will be living out of your duffel bag. Pack in one duffel only. There is no place to stow hard luggage. Each person is allotted only a few cubic feet for personal storage.
· A couple of plastic trash bags for dirty or wet clothing
· Clothing appropriate for the forecasted weather conditions.
o Loose clothing is better than tight.
o Items made of synthetic fabrics are better than natural. They do not absorb water and will dry faster. Hatches and ports are usually kept closed at sea and the interior of the boat can become damp.
· Duffel Bag (no hard luggage, no wheels)
· Sleeping Bag
o Generally light/medium weight work best
· Quick dry towel
· Foul Weather Gear
o Weight and boots depend on region and sailing conditions.
· Safety Harness & Tether
· Deck Shoes
· Sun Hat, cap, or visor
· Documents:
o Passport
o Airline Tickets
o Driver’s License
· Money
o Credit Cards
o Cash
· Reading Material
· Navigation
o Handheld compass
· Sunscreen
· Sunglasses and strap
· Personal/Prescription medication
· Motion medication if you need it.
· Personal hygiene products
What NOT to Bring
· Firearms
· Illegal substances
· Anything large, heavy, or bulky
· Anything expensive, including your good jewelry.
